Best all-inclusive I’ve been to!
I am over the top impresses with this place. I booked this trip for me and four friends. Being the one to book/pick the location, I was nervous about this place living up to everyone’s expectations. Dreams Sands exceeded our expectations! The entertainment crew is amazing! Peluso was my absolute favorite! He was incredibly personable and engaging. The entire staff just made the experience. And the food! Omg! I could not even believe how incredible the food was! My favorite restaurants are the Italian place, Asian place, and French. In that order. But even the buffet was quality! The rooms were modern and clean! The robes and slippers are a nice touch as well, they made us feel this was a more premium resort! Last, I was not expecting to be able to drink premium alcohol! There were a few items only available to preferred members, but as someone who’s go to drink is a vodka sprite, it was great that I could drink Absolute Vodka and not some unknown brand. I also highly recommend the daily ocean volley ball and ping pong tournament!!! I will most definitely be coming back here to visit!!! Can’t wait!!
Avoid this place
The lobby is hot and could use a lot of AC. Also, I just tried to go to the Waves and Sands restaurant and was denied entry due to being in shorts. However, I have seen 100 other people dining in shorts in other places with the same bs "dress-code". I spent a lot of money to upgrade to a preferred room and expected more. Avoid this place like the plague.
We are coming back!
We traveled to the Dreams Sands Cancun last year in November 2016. Before we even arrived we were treated to the best service by the e-concierge and front desk staff. We were travelling with a few different parties and after touching base with Javier, not only did we get a room near our friends, or managed an adjoining room with my mother-in-law, but Javier made sure our kids had a special treat waiting for them in our room. Needless to say, the rest of the 7 days we spent there were the best! The best variety of food, the best activities for the kids, the best beach (who could complain about being able to walk out a mile and the calm water only hits your chest!), and the best mojitos (from the beach bar not the buffet). We are lucky enough to be able to return at the end of this November again and we are certain we won't be disappointed. Last time we booked in the preferred category and we highly recommend that as I believe the rooms have been redone. This time we weren't able to pre-book so we shall see how it turns out. Stay tuned.....
The hotel, staff and food were excellent and the hotel was clean always do everything they do is to a high standard and very attentive will be booking again for 2018 Wide variety of choice for food and drink and everything is all inclusive unlike some hotels I've stayed in

Very Good Hotel
First off if you stay at the Dreams Sand definitely upgrade to the Preferred Club its worth the money. The club offers you premium alcohol and great service you will feel VIP. Only down fall of the Preferred Club is that they close the same time the other bars do I would have preferred they stayed open longer. Mauricio Barradas was our clerk at the preferred desk he was very helpful and informative we liked having him as our Clerk he made us feel at home. When our room didn't have A/C he upgraded our room to an ocean view! If you have Mauricio you will be in great hands! We also had a great Bartender in the preferred room his name was Armando Vega he took care of us and made great drinks he even went out of his way to make me a drink that I couldn't remember but I told him what it was and he made it! he is a great bartender and gives great service defiantly see him if he's there. Also want to give a shout out to the 2 bartenders at the main pool bar their names are Armando Dzol and Elmer (didn't get his last name) these guys were very entertaining and even got me hooked on this drink. We asked to have a drink made with a strawberry banana smoothie and these guys made a drink that became my favorite drink there even my fiancé loved it and he don't like fruity drinks. If you go to the bar and see Elmer or Armando ask for the SEXY BANANA haha. All the service was top notch and the food was amazing! Do check out the Italian restaurant the food was amazing! IF we ever go back to Cancun dream sand is our resort thank you all for the amazing service! Please reconsider the dress code my poor fiancé didn't know and most of the places you couldn't were a sleeveless shirt and that was his whole wardrobe and had to go up to the room every time he wanted to eat. Also room service for late night/early morning needs more variety mainly for early morning...we had to be at the airport before 7 and were not able to eat any breakfast because they do not offer breakfast :( please try and get something on the menu for us early birds.
Back in March my husband and I had the wonderful opportunity to stay at Dreams Sands. We loved how close the beach was to the hotel. All the restaurants had really good food but we loved the Himitsu Asian restaurant. We ate twice at this restaurant, we were greeted and served by Abraham Uribe, HANDS DOWN THE BEST WAITER! and human being. We had the most amazing service, he recommended the best appetizers, cooked in front of us and customized the dessert for us . We've been to Cancun couple of times and we've had really good service in all the hotels we've stayed but this one topped it off. Cancun will be my forever favorite destination.
Me and my husband are currently staying here for my 30th Birthday. The hotel is very clean and nicely set out. The beach is right next to the hotel and has very attentive waiting staff including Benjamin who has looked after us and kept our drinks topped up!Also, as it is my birthday we told the hotel and they have treated us like royalty especially Joshua who has sorted us a Bali bed and preferential treatment. Many thanks to the staff who have looked after us, cannot fault this place although the gym could be a bit bigger, I need it after all this fab food!
Hotel service and room review
The resort itself is beautiful and the staff are very helpful and friendly. What I didn't like is the times that serving food was available. Would have loved to been able to sit down in one of the restaurants for lunch time having a variety of options to choose from. Not having to wait till 630pm to have a sit down. Options should be available all night long a big variety. If you didn't order your room service before 11 after that only limited to nine options to choose from I really didn't like that.
The precious time for honeymoon
Everything is amazing!
Working people: They are so kindly and great taking care of us.
Hotel services: The all inclusive was amazing and awesome.
Food: Excellent!! Especially, morning buffet restaurant was awesome!!
I visited this place first time very nice place they made me feel very comfortable that I can trust them. Very good hospitality kind people visited one of there restaurants world cafe very professional. Hostess her name was Angelica waiter was Jorge manager was Lidia Meudez and the chef's were Juan and Erick they amazed us with how good they can cook we asked them we like shrimp and made us a really good dinner from it. It was perfect and Lidia Meudez is a very good manager if it was not for her this was not going happen I recommend if you want to go on a good vacation this is a good place to go.
I came here on my honeymoon after having our wedding at the Now Sapphire. Upon checkin the hotel looked nice. We were very impressed with the beach. When we got to the room we could not get the lights to turn on, the lamp shades were stained, one sink drain was broken, and the fridge was broken. After getting the lights on we changed and went to lay by the pool. The pool is very small for the hotel and so is the swim up bar. It’s very hard to find a seat there. Kids are everywhere and are jumping and splashing. I would recommend going to the beach bar for a drink. The bartenders there are really nice there. We were really impressed by the different choices of restaurants there. The food was very tasty too. The service at the restaurants were ok. Much better service at Now Sapphire! Dreams had construction going on in he room next to us and the room above us which woke us up at 8:30 am every morning. Who wants to be woken up that early on your honeymoon? I called and complained and the manager agreed to stop the construction and would instead start it up at noon since we would not be in the room. Yes the construction in the room next to us then did not start till noon, but the construction above us still started early. Furniture moving etc. We were at Dreams for 4 nights and did not have a good nights sleep. All in all if you are a couple looking for a relaxing get away, this place isn’t for you.
Recently stayed at the Dream Sands cancun, from the moment of arriving the service they provide is exceptional! Rooms spacious and very clean maids are brilliant. All inclusive option is the best we've had all branded spirits and great selection of cocktails.Entertainment team are the best we have seen constantly going above and beyond to help and entertain you especially Luis! Great location just a short walk to cancuns nightlife! Hotel situated on the beach front with stunning views!Overall a great stay and will deffinatly be returning!
Generous rating down to the staff
Been other dreams hotels and found the hotel a little in need of love and attention, for example the bath was old and looked painted, stains on the lampshades etc. What makes Dreams is the people, found the staff totally willing to help, always happy and generally looking like they enjoy their job. This resort, the food was great really to my liking. I was trying to eat clean and managed quite successfully. Really liked Wave Sands, had a great bit of fish.Ollio is also great for lunch, although eat in the buffet a fair bit - salads most the time
It has been 13 years since my son and I were away on a vacation other than to visit family. It was a long overdue vacation that I am looking forward to doing again. Prior to arriving, I scheduled excursions for everyday. I will be sure to leave one day to just lay on the beautiful beach.

Amazing Staycation or Baecation
The property was closely located to restaurants and shopping for those who enjoy a scenic run or have plans to stay within a couple of miles from the property. There are several club options within a walking distance, but I only left one day to get some souvenirs and stayed the primary portion of my trip on the property.
Our family was there from Sept. 22 - 29. Upon arrival we checked in at the front desk for our parents and that was quick and easy, no lines at all. Then Samuel took us up to the Preferred Club to check in with Mauricio and he was wonderful. They brought us bubbles to drink while checking in, that was a plus. - The Preferred Club is an absolute must and worth every penny. We traveled with our parents (82 and 63 years old) and two children (9 and 5). All of us had an amazing time down there, the food was great and so was the Resort. One thing is for sure, the beach was WOW!! Beautiful beautiful beach. The water was nice and shallow with mini reefs, we were able to snorkel everyday seeing all kinds of fishes, including star fishes and sting rays. We brought our own snorkel gears, but at the Preferred Club section you were able to sign them out if you didn’t have any. The rooms are smaller, but most of the time you’re outside enjoying the beach and pool that it didn’t really matter. The beds were exceptionally comfy and so were the pillows. Like I said, Preferred Club all the way. The employees, they work so hard and endless, I applaud them and tipping goes a very long way. - Please remember to tip as they are always working so hard and going above and beyond. We understand that gratitudes are already included but believe me when I say, they deserve way more than that. So don’t be shy and bring some few dollars to tip. A huge shout out to Joshua in Preferred Club, always working Very hard, always tentative and always going above and beyond for us and everyone else at the Preferred Club beach area. Armando, you were amazing inside the Preferred Club on 8th Floor, you took really good care of us the entire trip. Mauricio, concierge in Preferred Club, always there helping us and putting up with our boys, lol. And of course, Fernanda at the Kids Club, the boys loved you and you did such a wonderful job keeping them entertained. Thank you, Dreams Sands Cancun for one fabulous vacation trip, we will for sure be back again next year! One more thing, the wifi here was the best out of all the resorts we went to. That’s was such an added bonus!
Best Pool Concierge at Dream Sands Cancun
If you are visiting Dream Sands Cancun look out for Josh the friendliest pool concierge we have met. No request was ever too much trouble and Josh goes about his business with a skip in his step and a smile on his face.Thank you Josh for making our stay so relaxing and memorable.
Dreams Sands Cancun Resort & Spa
Excellent, excellent, excellent Resort to stay at when visiting Cancun. The staff was very accommodating, very friendly, and the resort is beautiful. Everything you need at your fingertips. The food was excellent. The staff spoke English. My husband and I travel to Cancun every year for the past 14 years and I have to say that this past trip was by far the best we ever had. The staff at the resort made the difference. The resort was clean, the food was great, the rooms were nice and the staff was outstanding.
Just came back from a fantastic 5 night stay at Dreams! Initially we didn't have the preferred package but opted to upgrade upon check in, and was not disappointed. We stayed on the 8th floor (same level as preferred club) and had the most amazing service. Armando Vega was our bartender, he was very friendly and very attentive to all the guest. My husband and I enjoyed coming to the preferred club after a day at the beach or out on the town. There was always great appetizers and even greater cocktail service. By our second night Armando memorized our drinks and would have it started as soon as he seen us walk in the club. It's a great place to unwind away from the crowd. Plus the view from the preferred club was absolutely breathtaking. Overall the hotel was amazing, with tons of restaurants to choose from and live entertainment every night. I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Cancun and splurge on Preferred if possible. Erick & Maricor Henriquez
Good hotel - Minor room for improvement
Most of the reviews about this hotel are accurate:1. The food is very good.2. The service is great both at the restaurants and the bars.3. The beach is nice, the water is calm.Areas for possible improvement:1. Lobby - inadequately air-conditioned. It's a hot place to hang out either to drink or watch the late-night lounge acts. Uncomfortably hot. This should not be the case in a high-end hotel.2. No dedicated theater. If it rains, you're out of luck. No shows and the only place to go is the lobby which is small, hot, and not set up for seating large groups of people.3. Seaweed clean-up. It took about 3 days before any of the smelly seaweed that washed up on the beach was cleaned up. As a result, the smell of sulphur/rotten eggs was noticeable and extremely unpleasant.4. My wife and I paid $4,000 to come here for 2 weeks. Was it good? Yes. Was it worth $4,000? No. It was worth closer to $3,000, so if you can get a really good deal, come here. Otherwise spend $300 more and go to the Riu Palace two hotels over. The difference between the hotels is very noticeable. Just compare pictures of the lobby and you'll understand. If you're already booked to go, make sure you eat at Waves & Sands. Great food there. Try the lemon pie. (You're welcome.)

"Plan B Vacation"
Just returned from this beautiful resort after switching last minute from hurricane battered Punta Cana. We only had a day or two to decide and since we'd never been to Cancun, we decided to try Dreams Sands Resort. I have to admit, our plan b turned out to be a fantastic choice! We always travel with another couple ( and we do travel quite a bit and value service and quality ! ) ... we were all in agreement that this vacation was a great choice! We were very impressed with the service and gracious hospitality of all the staff! The food/restaurant choices were plentiful and we loved that we did not have to make reservations! I regret not getting the names of the servers at our favorite restaurants as they went out of there way to make sure everything was exceptional for us...food was excellent and service top notch. There was always something going on as far as activities and entertainment but mostly we just chilled on the gorgeous beach (plenty of chairs, shade , umbrellas etc ) and enjoyed the all inclusive features of the resort. Rooms were very clean and beds very comfortable! Only negative was the bathroom had frosted glass door that led into the bedroom...not much privacy there. Can't say enough about the resort... We would definitely go back!

I went to Dream Sands for a week in late September and my visit there was incredible. From the moment we arrived up to the moment we left, my wife and I were surrounded by friendly faces and great service. If the beautiful beach isn't for you, the resort offers a variety of entertaining amenities for you to do, there is something for everyone. One of the highlights of the trip was the delicious food that was prepared for us at times throughout our visit, I'd say the resort is lucky to have these wonderfully talented chefs doing what they do.
one of the best holidays
had an amazing time staff were so helpfull and nothing was to much trouble loved every minute of my stay entertainment -beach -food but the staff are the heart of the resort thanks again for a great holiday.
The 3rd time was just as amazing as the 1st and 2nd!!!
Due to hurricane Irma hitting Florida we decided to make a last minute change on our vacation plans. Naturally we immediately thought of Dreams Sands Cancun because our previous 2 amazing stays. This resort is all around wonderful. However, the staff is what make this resort exceptional. The restaurants and the food is great. My favorite is Portofino, it's very cool when the chef brings out pasta directly from the kitchen in a skillet and severs onto your plate. The layout of the hotel makes it very easy to get around. We prefer a balcony room and love the ocean view. The king size beds are very comfortable. The beach is THE BEST!!! We love to get in the ocean and there were so many fish around this time. Also, a very curious Pelican. There are plenty of chairs and places to lounge. As I mentioned in the beginning of my review it truly is the staff here that make you feel at home. Adrian Rivera, e-Concierge, met us in the lobby and escorted us upstairs to the Preferred Club lounge for a cool beverage and easy check in. Nancy Lopez is the Executive Assistant Manager and she greeted us during our check in. It was wonderful to see Nancy again. She truly wants everything to be perfect for your stay, and it was! Claudia and Fernanda are Concierge's at the Preferred Club and are so helpful and delightful.Look for Cesar and Tina serving drinks out at the beach. They work very hard and always have a smile and a cold drink for you. Geraldo is at the Juice Bar outside of the breakfast buffet in the morning. I highly recommend one of these before you go in for breakfast, Geraldo does an amazing job and he is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. You will find Octavio at the lobby bar during the day. He always called us by name and had a drink ready for us. Laura was our lobby waitress in the evening and she's a true gem. Irving Andrade is an aspiring young man that works very hard. He stocks the frig in your room with water and all your favorite beverages. These are just a few of the incredible staff members at Dreams Sands that work very hard to ensure you enjoy every aspect of your vacation. This was our 19th trip to the region and we are already planning to return in September, 2018 to Dreams Sands. We love this resort and I encourage those that read this review to book your next vacation here!!!
Everything about this resort was excellent!! Our conceiger, Manuel was great & very attentive!!! We were treated like VIP's! All of the restaurants were very good & our servers treated us like we were the only patrons they had! After a couple of days, many employees of the resort remembered our faces! We had a wonderful week at Dreams Sands & will definitely go back!!!
We visited Dreams Sands the last week of September 2017. My wife, two daughters ages 5 and 1 and myself. Let me start by saying that the staff at the resort are amazing. They accommodated us when we requested to have our room cleaned at a certain time so that our youngest could nap undisturbed. The resort itself is not massive, but is big enough and offers a variety of restaurants. Most of the restaurants can be accessed from the main building so there is no need to walk outside if there is bad weather. The food at the restaurants was excellent for the most part. However there were some consistency issues. One night my wife had an amazing crepe brûlée at Bordeaux. Two nights later she had it again and it was over done. These minor set backs are out weighed by the other outstanding dishes we had. My 5 year old loved the kids club and the staff there again are outstanding. They did a wide range of activities everyday including going to the beach and the pool. The biggest improvement they could make for the hotel is to improve the air conditioning in the lobby. Overall my girls had a great time and we had a memorable stay.
From start to finish this was a wonderful holiday, check in efficient ,entertainment team fabulous they are all so friendly, food resturants at all times excellent ,location and size of hotel excellent with beautiful white sand beach only metres away we have told all our friends how good Dream Sands and we plan to return in the next 2/3 years
Dreams Sands was very clean, food was excellent, with a wide variety. Staff was extremely courteous and constantly available to help. Pool are were well maintained, beach was beautiful and there were a wide variety of things to do.
Had a amazing time
our time was amazing, food and servers and all employees were super nice. Spa was amazing and offered us acces to their hot tubs for out while stay. we also received coupons with our stay towards things
We stayed at Dreams Sands for our honeymoon 2 weeks ago and it was just amazing ! Hotel is so clean and great choice of restaurants ! Always so many people there to help you with any questions or trips you want to do ! Beach is clean and gorgeous!! Loads of entertainment every night for all the family !!!! Would just love to be back there !!
Amazing Hotel & Staff!!!!!
My husband and I celebrated my 30th birthday here and I could not have asked for a better place to stay! It is a gorgeous and clean hotel with beautiful views. From the moment you walk in, the staff is kind and attentive. Wendy at the front desk was super helpful and helped my husband plan multiple things for my birthday and answered all of our questions. Oscar and Candy at the lounge bar were amazing---they helped my husband pull off breakfast and champagne in bed on my actual birthday and had a cake and wine sent to the room the night before. The service was truly unbeatable. The food selection was fantastic! We ate at a different restaurant each night. For breakfast and lunch we usually ate at the buffet because of the incredibly large selection of food. Miguel was our favorite waiter at the café--he always remembered us and gave us excellent service. He and another man sang a song for my birthday and they sounded like professional singers. There is a swim up bar and a bar right next to the first pool. Ricardo at the bar by the pool was really funny and always made us laugh each time we went for a drink. When we went to the preferred lounge on the 8th floor, Caesar always took good care of us.Overall, it was one of the best trips we have ever taken and will definitely go back!!
Fife, United Kingdom
Started off with few wee hiccups but our fantastic Thomas cook rep Katie managed to not only sort out our problem with room booking but get us upgraded to a balcony ocean view room which was breath taking so special mention to Katie who went above and beyond for us. We were originally booked to go to iberostar cancun but with building work being carried out Thomas cook decided to move us to dreams sands, can I just say thank god for the builders because the hotel was absolutely amazing so where do I start, food was delicious in every restaurant especially the French one (Bordeaux) and the world cafe, special thanks to Miquel in world cafe he always had a smile on his face and really miss his funny wee noises he used to make. The barracuda bar had iced cocktails that really hit the spot our server was Tina who put up with our drunken antics brilliantly she always kept our tables stocked up with alcohol. Our room was no 806 perfect view mini bar stocked up daily, even got pringles n mnms. Went to coco bongos which was brilliant only 10 min walk which was completely safe, if you are thinking about booking pay for the VIP package it's not much more expensive and you get waiter service and seated upstairs so your not crammed in. We went on speed boat and snorkelling excursion also which was well worth the money, also done the Captain Hook with another couple who we met up with this was fantastic, again we upgraded for about ten dollars each and got seated upstairs and got bottle of grey goose (which went down very well) only negative thing I can think of is air conditioning in lobby bar was quite poor could be doing with some more ceiling fans although this did not stop us from sitting there every night with our endless cocktails served by the lovely Karen she even introduced us to one or two "baby beers" lol. Have to say this is the best holiday I have ever had and made it more special with the two couples and their son we met up with. Just leave this wee comment before I go please please make sure you tip these wonderful workers they are a credit to the hotel from the management to the hard working grounds staff they never had a smile of their faces, I have never been somewhere where the people are so freindly. Thankyou dreams sands I will definitely visit you again one day xxx
Just plain awesome...
Yes awesome everything, not able to suggest any improvements they can make. May be keep the restaurants and the pool open more a little longer. Extend breakfast hours some more too since when you are up late by the time you get up its time for lunch buy you want to eat breakfast.

Over rated, not a resort but a 3 star hotel.
Over rated, not a 4.5 star resort but a 3 star hotel at best. Very disappointing on entry - no wow factor, it was old, tatty, small and overcrowded. On registration at reception the gentleman acted as if he didn't have a room for us and that he was doing us a great favour by finding one, and wanted 280 dollars for upgrade. We'd paid for a Delux room with sea view and balcony and that's what we were expecting - so couldn't understand what all the fuss was about. The room they allocated us was not 4 star standard at all, the bath and shower were awful. The balcony was tiny with two tatty white plastic chairs, nowhere to dry wet swimwear.I shall now list the pros and cons of this place:Pros- Great location 1kl to party zone, close to Coco Bongo, Senior Frogs etc.- Easy to catch local buses to get around.- Easy to catch ferry to Isla Mujeres.- All rooms have ocean views.- Awesome sea, warm, clear and soft sand.- All the onsite restaurants were phonomenal and no need to book. This was the only thing that deserved 5 stars, the buffet was average.- Air conditioning worked well but was noisy.- Reasonable toiletries although not top end.- Comfortable bed.- Good wifi - The hotel had a reasonable atmosphere and was lively.Cons- The two swimming pools were small, one was in the sun all day, the other was cooler. The had ladders on entry.- Rooms were small with paper thin walls, no insulation - heard hallway traffic.- Not particularly clean.- Men had to wear long pants to eat dinner too hot for that.- Spa and gym small and uninviting.- Jaquzzi was disgusting.- Staff were friendly enough but slow service.- Shower and bath disgusting room 416. Shower lacked water pressure and the water temperature was inconsistent and no way of controlling it. The shower head fell off onto husbands head when he first used it. The water didn't drain properly.- Entertainment was very mediocre.- People put towels on sun loungers at 7:30am- Not enough sun loungers in shade - and if you were lucky enough to get one of the thatched parosels you had to share it with strangers. While we were there it was Mexican Independence Day and the staff were busy preparing for that. So we were looking forward to some good traditional Mexican entertainment. However residents were not allowed to go unless they paid 200 dollars each - I was disgusted!Don't bother going to Marcado 28 (no 2 bus) it's merely there to rip tourists off, they sell tat and the venders are very pushy and in your face. Go to Marcado 23 (bus 1). It's a market for the locals, much cheaper and the people are much more honest and nicer.Watch out on the ferry to Isla Mujeres - easy to get to, but a guy on the ferry was selling golf buggies at inflated prices, much cheaper on the island but then they take your driving licence away until you return the buggy but won't give it you back unless you buy something in their shop.Trust no one. The island is worth a visit, the iguanas were great.Although we made the most of our stay we would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone - we overpaid for a very average hotel.
Excellent location, food, and most of all, customer service. Every member of staff was extremely polite, courteous and always willing to help. Special shout out to Elmer at the pool bar, and Jaime Lopez, the most excellent waiter at restaurant Himitsu. Pools excellent, beach is wonderful with a fantastic view. Aquaworld staff were very helpful, and Emmanuel with the excursions hut was always up for a good time. Despite the 4 star rating of the hotel, the vibe is very friendly, and extremely atmospheric. Great location next to the strip (within walking distance). Would highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.
Absolutely Amazing Views!
I had high expectations for my first-ever all-inclusive trip and Dreams Sands exceeded almost every aspect imaginable! My girlfriend and I highly recommend this resort.Highlights:- The beach is breathtaking! You can see the white sand beach as soon as you pull into the driveway. Water is about 40 feet from the back doors.- Dinner is very good. I highly recommend the French and Italian restaurants. The seared tuna was off the charts!- We had a room on the top floor, and needless to say, the views were amazing. Housekeeping kept the room clean and beer stocked.- Service was mostly on point. We expected the beach-side service to be a bit quicker but never waited long for a cold beverage. However, the grounds were immaculate. They raked sand and cleared any debris every morning.Suggested Improvements:- No means no! The pushy timeshare salespeople drove us nuts. We declined and had another on us the next day. I understand the need to sell but respect our decision to not attend.- Brunch is not a favorite of mine; however, I think it was still rather average. For as good as the restaurants were, the food here should be better.- Lunch was pretty awful. We expected a lot better than a cheeseburger and hot dog buffet. Yes, there were some other options, but overall the quality and quantity was rather lackluster. All that said, Dreams Sands is gorgeous, well-maintained, and has friendly people taking care of you. Come for the beach and crystal clear water and stay for the delicious dinners!
Family friendly and not couples friendly
The hotel itself is older, but they keep it very clean and try very hard to provide many different amenities including but not limited to: Desires (nightclub), two pools, one an infinity pool and the other with a swim up bar, waterfall with kid area, 7 restaurants, non motorized water sports (paddleboard, kayak, snorkeling, kill cat), gym, spa, shows and daily activities. In regards to the hotel, there are only three elevators for 11 floors, so you spend a lot of time waiting for and on the elevator. The nightclub is considered a sports bar during the day so it's a weird mix/ decor for a true club atmosphere. The main male bar tender was awesome though, he remembered my drink request from the night before. The DJ does not begin until 10 or 10:30, and then closes at 1AM, wish they were open longer or started earlier. They do offer late night snacks for the drunkies which is considerate (hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, etc). My husband smokes and there is not a smoking section right outside the bar, however during our entire stay they never said anything to us about smoking outside the club. All of the restaurants were delicious, but I have a wide range of foods that I like, but they truly do have something for everyone. They do enforce the dress code though, men must wear long pants, no jeans and closed toed shoes, unless you sit outside for dinner. We got the best service at the International buffet, Miguel was our waiter - he is wonderful with a bubly personality. The Mediterranean restaurant provided slow service and we tried it three times, lunch and dinner. The main pool is rather large but the swim up bar only has maybe 6 seats, is right next to the kid area and closes at 5pm. The poolside service is good compared to the infinity pool, you will not get service over there, only until we made friends with our favorite waitress Tina did we get any service on that side. I was also looking forward to the hammocks, but those are roped off for the preferred guests only, which comes at a cost. The spa was amazing, my favorite part of the hotel. It is very secluded and all of the employees were extremely nice, especially Elizabeth and Kasandra. We purchased the couples 50 minute massage and it put us almost to bed it was so relaxing, it was well worth the money, and you get access to the rest of the spas amenities such as their steam room, sauna, private hot tubs, etc. I highly suggest asking for a spa tour before making your decision. My husband got his first pedicure and my sister in law received a facial; they both loved the services. They have a limited number of kayaks, paddleboards and catamarans, so be prepared to wait your turn, but they are free and you get 30 minutes out in the water. The gym was sufficient, but not enough equipment in good working condition. Two of the four treadmills were not working, which left two treadmills, an elliptical and one stationary bike. There was a bow flex and free weights, but not a lot of room to move around. Many people walked in and right out because it was full/ machines out of order.I do have to say the entertainment team was a bit scarce. I expected more hype especially on the weekends. They have an entertainment booth near the pool which has a daily list of activities, but would prefer to see a weekly schedule to better plan my stay. Also almost all if not all of the activities were family oriented, I would have liked to see more adult oriented entertainment in the evenings, maybe after their main shows. I enjoyed the shows we went to though, but it only lasted an hour. Overall, we had no problems with the staff. Everyone was very nice and helpful. If we did this vacation again, we would rather go to an adult only resort as it was too family friendly for our taste. Minimal partying and not enough service for day drinking. If you want to relax, this your place. If you want to party, go somewhere else.
We are Here. Loving it. When they tell you at check in to upgrade they mean you will be on a higher floor with a private area and premium drinks. All time shares are 4 hours. Don't fall for the 90 minutes only line if you don't want to commit to the 3 to 4 hours. Food is awesome and we are foodies. Service is outstanding. Massages and the spar are too.
Great experience, but needs improvement
Had a great experience. The initial visit was rocky due to the front desk clerk trying to put us into a double bed room when our records indicated a king bed. Once sorted, we had a great experience. Miguel at the International Buffet was a great waiter always asking us to sit with him. He surprised us with drinks and entertainment. Tina a poolside waitress was amazing. She was one of the few that was quick to refill drinks and offer a smile. The beaches were always clean, the rooms where always clean and prompt service when something is needed. Great restaurant selections all with good food and great service. A couple of pitfalls that will make us not return to this resort... towels are placed by visitors at 7:30 am and hoarded each morning. So if you don't wake up early enough people who are nowhere near the pool have the chairs. I would like to see employees removing items from unattended chairs so they stay available. There are too few pool chairs with little poolside service with the exception of Tina. The bars close too early each day. The entertainment staff is lacking enough fun adult oriented activities vs family activities. Last but not least, who wants to wear long pants to eat dinner when it's so hot. Overall a great experience.
Dreans Hotel Sand Cancun
First visit to Mexico and the Dreams Hotel. The service was excellent, the food very varied and ALL the staff were happy, eager to please and extremely helpful. Two people who deserve a HUGE mention are Luis and Samara from the 'Events Team' such assets to the hotel, they went beyond and above their duties, always smiling, always there to help and encourage ( my reluctant 18 year old girl) to take part in the daily activities, even I played volley ball in the sea ( they must be good!) The hotel also offered one hour daily Spanish lessons which I took part in, it was great fun, although I'm not yet fluent in Spanish both Samara and Luis taught me a great deal. Mucho Gusto :-) We hope to return some day Andi Mia and Ann
Best service we have found!!
Everything here is fantastic, but the service is exceptional. The wait staff is amazing, but special mention go to Joshua in the hot tub area and Gerardo in the buffet and Japanese restaurant. Both are EXTREMELY GOOD at their jobs and a true asset to the beautiful Dreams resort. These 2 and Benjamin are examples of what every employee should strive to be, although every employee we have encountered has been hardworking and polite!! VERY VERY IMPRESSED!!!GREAT FOOD, BEAUTIFUL BEACH EVERYONE WENT ABOVE THE CALL!!!TAKE A BOW DREAMS!!!! HOMERUN!!
First time here

Himitsu restaurant at the hotel.
I stayed at the Dream Sands Cancun 2 years ago and received the most excellent service I have ever received. The staff was so friendly and happy. I decided to return to this same hotel with my luv because of my experience 2 years ago. I was a little disappointed at first the service was not quite what it was 2 years ago. My dress was ruined because they washed the chairs with bleach and I say in one of them and was asked for a receipt to show the cost of my dress. Who would have receipts with them while on vacation for the clothes they brought with them! Wow! Complete dissatisfaction! Than we went to the Himitsu restaurant and our server Jaime Lopez redeemed the entire hotel with his amazing upbeat attitude. He went out of his way to get me sine hot tea and gave me extra to take to my room to help with a sore throat I have been nursing. They were out of the Duck and I was looking forward to trying it and he went out of his way to ask the Chef and they had just one left and made it for me. He was at every table with every guest with the same enthusiasm as he continued throughout out entire meal to be friendly, thoughtful, best service I have received in years from any server at any restaurant. I let his manager know and he too was very pleasant and complimentary of his staff! It was great to see such wonderful enthusiasm and love for his job! Thank you Jaime you're amazing! I left with a smile on my face feeling better than I was when I got there and grateful we ate at the Himitsu, the food was excellent as well!
We came here for my 30th Birthday and this vacation was nothing short of amazing. This resort was right in the middle of everything and the staff was very professional and attentive to guest needs. The resort was clean, the food was great, and the staff was amazing! Gabrielle at the front seat upgraded our room as a friendly gesture and we had an amazing view of the beach and the amenities that the resort offered. Will definitely be back to visit.
Stanstead Abbotts, United Kingdom
I only stayed here for a couple days while travelling round the Yucatan and thought we'd start high. I was very impressed with the hotel; the service from turning up was superb with our bags taken, a glass of sparkling wine, a cold towel and a sit down to tell us everything we needed to know. Perfect. The room was very clean and spacious, although we asked for a double and got a twin but we couldn't be bothered to cause a fuss as each single was very large. The food choices were great, 7 restaurants and 3 bars, although unfortunately I thought food quality and taste was average and you can't really go anywhere else in cancun. The beach, pools and activities are great.

New York City, New York
my husband and i traveled here on 9/11 to 9/17. the staff was amazing as usual. extremely accommodating. there were two staff members that stand out more than others and thats our waiter, ARTURO MACHORRO and our conciere, MARCO GOMEZ. these two staff members made our trip even more special. apparently we made an impression on the waiter and he made us a cake. this resort is family oriented....lots of children around but there is baby sitting services if needed. the beach was amazing the water was nice and warm and calm. be aware of the rocks at the edge of the beach, they are very sharp points. just walk them or find a side where there arent any. they have hbo. rooms are clean. restaurants were great.buffet, world cafe was pretty big with great food for dinner, lunch and dinner. mexican was a bit disappointing for dinner. the daily food by the beach/pool was a special treat. resort is close by shopping area. i cant say enough about this resort. i would go back in a minute.

Perfecto Vacation By Excellent Staff
I would recommend Dream Sands Resort & Spa to couples, family, or friends get away. The staff made sure every minute was the most enjoyable experience. There was never a moment we were not satisfied no matter what time of the morning, afternoon, or night. The concierge services gave us one on one treatment and they did not leave us hanging. We celebrated Birthday and they showed us an awesome time from Breakfast by room service and plenty of adult beverages. The bar staff, spa staff, beach bar staff, buffet staff were all very helpful. A Huge thank you to our Hotel tour Jorge Rpuos.
