We want more!
My intention was to get a big dose of downtown Cancun in a day--so we walked out to get some cheap tacos and to wander through Mercado 28. After some time, hot and weary, I started to want a dose of ice cream and a cool place to sit down. By chance, we were in front of this establishment, so we walked in and asked if they had ice crea,.. Why, yes, a few flavorfs. So we had a seat in their small air conditioned room, nicely appointed with "welcome" in a dozen or so languages. Their ice cream was in four flavors, vanilla, chocolate, and vegan-style strawberry and mixed berries. So I knew I wanted vanilla, and my wife was perusing their options for iced coffee.Well, while waiting mthe server brought us three ramekins with samples of the vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. Each was worthy of trhe Mexican tradition of ice cream bursting with flavor, even that vegan strawberry, So I ordered the vanilla--I love Mexican vanilla, clearly fresh bean and not imitation stuff. It came topped with whipped cream--a nice plus! My wife had an iced latte which she was a little disappointed with, but then the waiter gave us a sample of their crepes--a nutella filled one with a bit of whipped cream and a banana coin on the side. Wow! We determined to show up for breakfast the next morning! And so we presented ourselves at tgheir 9 a,m. opening and sat on their pleasant patio. My wife went for honey pancakes, which she admired profoundly. I got the huevos rancheros--they were terrific. Now, I'm used to huevos rangheros coming with a white queso sauce, but this one was two perfect each-ov er eggs on a pair of tortillas with some frijoles between, topped with a tomato sauce--must be the Yucatan peninsula version? At any rate, it was superbly satifying and the coffee was a great accompaniment.Perhaps this spot benefits from being a couple of doors down from a culinary school? The worst I might say about it is that service is leisurely, as seems common in Mexico. I think it should be considered one of the finest establishments in Cancun, I heartily recommend them for desserts or breakfasts, and they've onvinced my wife that she wants some more Nutella,
